General features. Contemporary history in a nutshell.
Yugoslavia was located on the US and EU route to Caspian oil areas.
Yugoslavia was a nuisance for imperialism. Yugoslavia´s prosperous state-owned companies were elements which capitalists could not tolerate. Yugoslavia did not obey imperialism´s demands for privatizations. Yugoslavia was not interested in NATO´s membership.
In order to launche an imperialist military attack on Yugoslavia USA-backed forces had years ago begun to arrange and to seek suitable pretexts of the internal problems of the country.
The Sfor-units of NATO occupied in the autumn 1997 four radio and television stations in Bosnia. According to the NATO sources these stations had transmitted propaganda against the Dayton pact manipulated by USA.
No news source has indicated what kind of propaganda or information these stations had transmitted.
The stations began their activities again after having replaced the destroyed equipment.
The new stations were silenced once more. According to the newspapers the NATO sources inform that "a group of American experts have been on spot investigating the situation".
Then a Serbian television station in Bosnia was blown up.
This is the way USA operates after having appointed themselves world police in order to defend democracy and the freedom of speech.
The breaking up of Yugoslavia began from Croatia. The arms for this civil war came from America. A quarter million of Serbs were thrown out of their homes. Thousands were killed.
In the former wealthy socialist Yugoslavia there was no threat of civil wars. Poverty after the counter-revolution brought also internal violence. Imperialism uses the situation for its own goals in an unscrupulous way.
Imperialism´s consequential method in its efforts to take over all the world is to use separatist groups in order to split states.
The period for the Sfor-units as they are now should haven been over in June 1998. However, NATO continued its presence in Bosnia.
Yet Yugoslavia existed as a shrinkened federation formed by Serbia and Montenegro. Imperialism´s political was to separate Serbia and Montenegro from each other. Kosovo is a province of Serbia.
Kosovo is a rich mining area. It is not a coincidence that imperialism is interested especially in Kosovo. In spring 1998 the USA- and EU-backed powers began provocations in Kosovo.
Provocations succeeded. In Summer 1998 there was a civil war going on at Kosovo area. According to the media the Serbian army fighted against unarmed people. Yet there was a battle between the Serbian army and the heavily armed Albanian rebels. The Albanian arms are suited with the goals of the political background powers of NATO. Additonally, there were unidentified armed groups at the area.
In October 1998 military operations at Kosovo were calmed down by Yugoslavian armed forces. NATO has informed of its intentions to begin unlegal military operations without the necessary international authorizations.
NATO used an incident called a "mass murder" at Racak at Kosovo area as a pretext for the military attack against Yugoslavia. NATO accused the state of Yugoslavia and Serbs for these crimes. The case was investigated and the final results came first in June 2000. People were killed but there is no idea of the guiltiness.
Instead of this guiltiness we know that Kosovo Liberation Army is a large drug organization. Their weapons have been paid with drugs. Many leaders of KLA sit in jails of Germany, Switzerland and Italy because of drug dealing. Kosovo has been the most important centre for heroine and cocaine in Europe. NATO had allied with the "liberation army" already before the war.
NATO´s attack.
On March 24th 1999 USA began air attacks against Yugoslavia. It was not a question of any kind of a peace operation. The aim of imperialism is political and economical control over Yugoslavia. "Protecting" Albanians was just an excuse. Albanians have been deceived. In fact they should have fought together with Serbs against NATO as a part of the worldwide struggle against the superpower of capitalist imperialism.
American war information lied when speaking of military targets. Air attacks hitted especially civil targets. The destruction caused by the attacks were crucially worse compared to the hypotethical situation without the operation of NATO. This concerns especially also Albanians in Kosovo. USA with their sympathizers had now a serious new problem caused by themselves. What to do with the refugees? The media performed sad stories of the misere fates of refugees. Without NATO there had been no refugees.
NATO did not mention their misses. Greek newspaper Athinaiki wrote about body-bags transported through the port of Thessaloniki.
Yugoslavia destroyed during the war about one hundred of military aircrafts and helicopters and a big amount of missiles. Yugoslavians sold parts of them in the internet...
After one week´s war it was clear that NATO has failed to reach the settled goals. In circumstances of military shortcomings NATO accelerated the bombardings and bombed especially civil targets.
The western media used a lot of program time and newspaper page space for telling principal and practical lies especially concerning NATO´s shortcomings in this war. Fortunately, we have the internet. Fortunately, information flow in the internet cannot so far be controlled by the media monopolies.
The power media mixes things intentionally. The internal problems of Yugoslavia form one issue. The imperialist attack on a sovereign country is antoher issue.
United Nations tried to handle the war. As permanent members of the Council of Security Russia, China and India strictly condemned the attack.
Yet USA is not interested of the political aims of countries and people in the world. The American propaganda speaks of democracy. The deeds of USA have nothing to do with democracy.
Afterwards we know that USA with its allies did not even intend to work for any kind of a peaceful solution. The terms settled by USA in the so called "Rambouillet agreement" included an idea of absolute control over Yugoslavia by USA and NATO. No sovereign country could accept that kind of an agreement. The western media has lied about the contents of these proposals. Why?
For more than two months of war NATO was desperate. The military potential of Yugoslavia and the forming of a large worldwide political anti-imperialist front was a surprise for the American politicians and for NATO´s generals.
NATO´s internal problems flourished. Greece and Austria denied NATO to use their air space. In case of the planned ground attack Greece had not allowed NATO to use her area at all. At peoples´ level resistance against NATO´s criminal war has grown explosively in NATO-countries and everywhere in the world.
On the first weekend of June 1999 there were large demonstrations against USA´s policy and NATO´s aggressions all around the world, especially in USA and England. The authorities of USA tried to prevent organizing of these demonstrations.
In the end of April we knew that satellite photos of mass graves in Kosovo had been fabricated. USA used these photos in its propaganda. In May 1999 the media showed a bunch of "evidence" of mass murders in order to justify continuing the war. Also these "evidences" were faked and manipulated. The western power media worked hard to dehumanize Yugoslavian army and its leadership.
In early morning on May 14th NATO committed a massacre in Korisa, near the Albanian border. More than one hundred Albanians were killed by NATO´s cluster bombs. This operation was ment to justify the massive ground attack by blaiming Yugoslavia for this terror attack. However, one day before this crime NATO´s plans came to publicity.
NATO´s explanations were amusing. At first "there were no NATO aircrafts at the area". Then they found that the Albanians were as a human shield for a Yugoslavian military unit. NATO has "evidences". NATO has always "evidences" when investigating its own deeds. In case there were a Yugoslavian unit, why did NATO not mention it right away? Finding suitable explanation and making the possible "evidences" took even couple of days.
Crotian warplanes were integrated to NATO´s operation. They had Yugoslavian Army insignia. This was one of the most extreme form of fraudulent means of NATO. There must have been be a real emergency in NATO when intending to use this kind of a deception.
Yugoslavian TV-stations had been mostly destroyed. Thus the lies of NATO remained alive. The media repeated like a parrot the "news" controlled by NATO.
An cease-fire agreement was finally made. According to the negotiation results Yugoslavia remains as a sovereign state and Kosovo will be a part of it with certain amount of independence. The peace troops at Kosovo area will work under UN´s control and a part of them will not be NATO´s troops. Imperialism achieved with unscrupoulous violence military victory but suffered political defeat.
Yugoslavia was the moral winner of the war. The heroic battle by Yugoslav people and the Yugoslav army has proved that fight against massive aggression of imperialism is possible and necessary.
Different forms of violence continue at Kosovo area. KFOR is not too interested in the raw violence by ethnic Albanians against Serbs.
After the war...
The contemporary process of this political theatre is obviously handling of real or faked war crimes and to destroy rest of remaining independent Serbia.
The legal processes have been carried on in Hague tribunal. This court is not a court in a common sense of the word. It is a political organ of the capitalist elite. "Evidence" of Yugoslavia´s "war crimes" are seeked for. Of course there are corps after the civil war and after the war. However, examining these corps may be very selective. Yet the corps in the at first found graves were Serbs...
A legal war crime process against NATO not depending on imperialist backgrounds has started in New York on July 31st, 1999. There was another corresponding process going on in Berlin. In Vienna the government of Austria was prosecuted because of supporting NATO´s criminal activities. A court formed by internationally respected lawyers had its session in Belgrad in spring 2000.
There are also accusations in Hague against NATO for war crimes with hard evidence. In June 2000 the NATO-orinted political prosecutor of this tribunal decided not to accuse NATO for anything in spite if self-evidend evidence of war crimes. So called human right organizations still demand NATO to be accused for war crimes during the war. Yet they are not interested of the deceptions connected with the beginning of the attack.
The political court in Hague has found no evidence for the genocide on which NATO based their criminal attack. Of course, after the civil war there were graves. It is another matter. USA and UN continue spreading faked evidence of the brutality by Serbs in order to justify NATO´s criminal attack afterwards.
In November 1999 English Members of Parliament questionned England´s participation in the war on false basis.
The intention of the world capitalism in this war was to pursue Yugoslav natural riches. Additionally, Yugoslavia is on the road to Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and to the Caspian oil.
In the end of March 2000 politicians, scientists and pressmen all over the world held a conference in Belgrad. The conference came to a conclusion that NATO´s attack endangered the future of the mankind.
The third hearing of the International Peoples Tribunal initiated in Russia by the All-Slavic Assembly was held in Belgrade March 27-29, 2000. The tribunal coincided with the anniversary of the start of the U.S./NATO bombing of Yugoslavia. The panel of judges found NATO leaders guilty of violations of international law regarding rules of war.
Afterwards even the bourgeois media has had to admit NATO´s lies both on the excuses for beginning the war and on the public information during the war.
On June 10th 2000 the International Tribunal on U.S./NATO War Crimes Against the People of Yugoslavia found U.S. and NATO political and military leaders guilty of war crimes. At this people's tribunal meeting in New York, held before over 500 people, a panel of 16 judges from 11 countries rendered this verdict regarding the March 24-June 10, 1999 U.S./NATO assault on Yugoslavia.
At the same time the political court in Hague found NATO "not guilty".
There were presidential, parliamentary and local elections in Yugoslavia in September 2000. USA participated the elections in its own peculiar way. USA threatened with a new war in case the elections do no follow the American plans. The hypocratic EU-governments promised to ease coercions in case the results of elections are satisfactory from their point of view. If this was not blackmailing, what then? According to many political experts elections in these circumstances were nothing but a farce. The western media emphasized the democracy of these elections.
The anticipated results of these elections formed an emergency to imperialists. They used enormous amount of money to affect the elections. They even produced faked electoral web-sites with an outlook of official Yugoslav pages. In these circumstances of extreme manipulation and pressure the political opposition achieved electoral victories.
In October 2000 masses carried out a coup détat in Yugoslavia in circumstances of unclear results of the presidential elections. There is now a new president. The privatizations may have really reduced the former president´s political support in spite of the fact that people widely supported his foreign politics. Additionally, the commercial blockade made people´s life difficult exactly like imperialism planned.
The US and the EU tried immediately after the new situation to interfere the Yugoslav internal affairs by setting conditions to lift the sanctions in order to smash the powerful parliamentary socialist and left opposition in Yugoslavia. The new president rejected those attempts immediately.
USA and the EU have in their own areas in practice denied capitalism-critical oppositions. In their attempts to push the same model to other countries they make themselves guilty for unscrupulous interference in other countries´ internal affairs.
Both Chinese and Vietnamese press strongly condemned the western interference into elections of a sovereing country.
In February 2001 the Yugoslav government demanded the NATO for compensations for the war.
In April 2001 a detailed prosecution letter against the NATO and political leaders of the NATO-countries and demand for material compensations has been left to the tribunal in the Hague.
In spring 2002 the unrests in the the FYROM continue. "This is none other than genocide," Moscow declared as it denounced conditions in the nominally Yugoslav province of Kosovo since its occupation by the U.N. and the NATO. The statement cited as evidence the deaths of some 700 Serbs, the flight of an additional 226,000 and the destruction of numerous Serb dwellings.
Xavier Solana, representative of imperialism earlier in the NATO and now in the EU is in spring 2002, in co-operation with Yugoslav internal separatist powers, digging grave for the country called Yugoslavia. Montenegro is led to independence. Hence the criminal attack on Yugoslavia in 1999 will be completed by destroying politically the remnants of Yugoslavia/Serbia.
In the beginning of June 2002 the FRY did in fact not exist any more.
The Kosovo Provisional Assembly has passed a declaration challenging the Border Delineation Agreement signed in February 2001 and establishing an internationally recognised border between Yugoslavia and the Republic of Macedonia. This agreement came after years of negotiations between the governments in Belgrade and Skopje.
Ethnic Albanian paramilitaries, however, never recognised the February agreement and instigated a violent campaign against the Macedonian army and border police. The five-month conflict left hundreds of ethnic Albanians and Macedonians dead and tens of thousands homeless.
The paramilitaries involved were members of the National Liberation Army (NLA), an off-shot of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA). The NLA and another splinter group, the ANA, have regularly flouted a cease fire signed August 2001.
NATO gets step by step further in Balkans, in Caucasus and everywhere in Eastern Europe.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov said on August 10th, 2002 that Russia, Kazakhstan and other countries on the Caspian coast might set up a joint defense contingent in the area.
In September 2002 NATO hindered Serbs to return to Kosovo, against all agreements.
US blackmailing on Yugoslavia continued in January 2003. Prior to Bosnia US war crimes envoy Pierre-Richard Prosper visited Yugoslavia, warning that Belgrade may lose vital financial aid from Washington unless it helps turn over key war crimes fugitives.
In February 2003 there was no Yugoslavia any more.
In June 2003 USA informed officially that it will build permanent military bases in Balkans.
In 2003 lethal unrests continue in Balkans, especially in Kosovo and Macedonia. The basis of conflits are unjustice, privatisations and messing of criminal gangs, all these elements supported by western countries.
Serbian presidential elections in November 2003 had no real signifigance because the country still remains subjugated by western powers. The elections were nothing but a fiasco. There are efforts to arrange new votings in January 2004..
In March 2004 the mainstream meda told us that Milosevic may not be convicted, but he will be in prison the rest of his life. Of course. He knew too much.
Clashes between ethnic groups in Kosovo accelerated in spring 2004. The so called "international community" ignores the situation. In practice the UN, NATO etc. defend this way the KLA, the local and international criminal organization.
April 2004. By passing the "Law on Rights of ICTY Indictees Detained at The Hague and of Their Families, the parliament gave expression to the growing mass anger at Western imperialist domination of their country. It was also a thumbing of the nose at Washington, which is threatening to withhold an already meager $50 million in loan aid.
October 2004. Serbs boycotted the by the western powers in advance manipulated elections in Kosovo.
January 2005. Italian reporters Umberto Tomasi and Mariela Cataldo published a book on Kosovo as the Black Hole of Europe, in which they condemned the unjust demonization of Serbs and the secret battle to seize "the biggest coal reserves in Europe" which are located in Kosovo.
May 2005. Two new mass graves were found in Kosovo. In the graves of Merdita and Vojik tehre were Serbs killed by KLA.
October 2005. Six and half years after the "humanitarian intervention" there was a super high unempolyment anf full chaos in Kosovo.
November 2005. Kosovo independence was promoted by Mr. Martti Ahtisaari, president Bush´s errand boy in previous processes at Balkans.
November 2005. Slobodan Milosevic needed urgently doctor for his heart problems. Even entire Russian Duma demanded and offered treatment for him. He did not get the aid. Quite obviously the "court" could not give him any kind of sentence but because he knows too much he will be let to die.
March 2006. Milosevic died. It was now doubt a MURDER.
August 2006. The special UN envoy, NATO´s errand boy Martti Ahtisaari caused harm for Kosovo talks by his stupid comments in Vienna. According to him "Serbia was guilty as a nation". This idiotism caused immediately terror attacks against Serbs.
October 2006. A new Serbian constitution was accepted by overwhelming majority. Besides replacing the 1990 constitution drawn up under the era of Slobodan Milosevic, the new bill enshrined Kosovo as an "inalienable" part of Serbia, in an eleventh hour bid to block the independence demanded by the ethnic Albanian majority of the province.
January 2007. In the Serbian parliamentary elections all the parties agreed - in spite of their disputes in other issues - principally not to give up defending Kosovo to be a part of Serbia. Russia told officially that it will not accept any solutions against Belgrade´s will. Hence Kosovo with its natural riches will be a new dangerous geopolitical dispute between east and west.
February 2007. The ICC declared Serbia as a state "not guilty" in the Srebrenica genocide case in 1995. This decision means in practice that neither Yugoslavia nor Serbia nor Milosevic could be accused for the unclear Racak incident in 1999.
April 2007. Russia as a permanent member of the UNSC denied secession of Kosovo in the way western countries wanted to proceed in that issue.
July 2007. The western countries did not bring the Kosovo issue to the UNSC because they knew that both Russia and China would use their vetos. A new plot-planning for natural riches of Kosovo began.
September 2007. Serbia asked for UN protection against possible US unlegal acitivies on Kosovo status.
December 2007- February 2008. The problem of possible independence of Kosovo turned to a dangerous contradiction on the axis Belgrad/Moscow - Washington/Brussels.
February 2008. Kosovo declared independency, unilaterally, in contradiction with all international laws, norms and practices but contributed by the West. The consequences may be serious, locally and globally.
March 2008. The U.S., its European allies and some other countries recognized Kosovo independence. Russia and most of the world did not accept this violation of UNSC resolution 1244.
